Some of you guys might know that our current countryside place is a flat in a house of friends in a little village in Germany, one hour away from Berlin. We were so grateful that we could use this place over the last four years, but at some point we just didn’t had enough space anymore, as we did more and more photo productions in the countryside. So we knew one day we want to have our own space in the same area. Sometimes these kind of things just happen when you don’t expect them at all, so a few weeks ago we got the exciting news, that this old schoolhouse, that was a family owned space since ages, will be available for us this year. After we started renovations in our vacation home in Sweden last year, we would have never guessed to do another renovation so soon, but here we are, so grateful and happy to start this new adventure! Next month the workers will start with the renovations and we are excited to take you guys with us through this process of renovations. First of all some walls have to be removed and also the grey concrete part of the little annex in the backyard, so we get the original condition of the house again. Then we need to uncover almost all floors, as hopefully beautiful old wooden floorboards are underneath. As most of the original wooden windows were replaced with plastic ones, we definitely want to change them to wooden ones again which reflects the old character of the house. The biggest renovation part will be the attic, as no one lived here for decades and the condition is quite rustic to say it in a kind way. A lot of work is also waiting in the garden for us, as besides to some lovely trees, two huge lilac bushes and some peonies there are only growing weeds right now 🙂 We hope you guys enjoy this little renovation journey with us – stay tuned for some updates soon!
