Our new Kvänum X Frama Studio Kitchen
After more than a year of renovation we are so happy to finally share our new studio kitchen with you guys today!
*In collaboration with Kvänum
I can’t believe this is our first post this year – we are so sorry for the silence! With many client productions and the renovation of our studio the blog got left a bit behind. Also we started a new Substack last month, where we will share more behind the scenes from our renovation projects and also more personal posts and analog photography. So if you want to follow along there too take a look at our Substack “Inviting Space”.
More than a year ago we started the renovation of our new studio that at the same time will be available for rent through our project St. Oak Apartments.
We started the renovation as a couple and along the way broke up this year – definitely not how we had pictured celebrating the opening of the new studio but as with every challenge and change there comes a lot of beauty with it too. So while the past months have been incredibly intense, it also feels exciting to enter this new path.
Nora and I will continue to work together and are looking forward to be back with regular recipes this summer.
But back to the new kitchen – when we saw the space for the first time it was everything else but charming. The whole apartment was divided into many small rooms, blue carpets were glued to the floor, original details like old wooden doors had been replaced with plastic doors – so there really was a lot of work waiting for us. But the huge old oak tree in front of the building gave us so much power and trust with it’s wonderful grounding presence. The first step was to create more space, so we removed a lot of the walls. Then the carpets had to say goodbye, so we could sand the beautiful original concrete floor. Under layers of wall papers we found these super charming rustic walls and decided not to paint over it. For the kitchen we wanted to have something warm and welcoming yet also something modern and minimal which goes along well with the rough space and found that with the beautiful kitchen from Kvänum X Frama. We absolutely love the warm wooden tone called “ginger” and couldn’t be more happy with the result. The kitchen is extremely spacious and leads to an open living- and dining area. The quality is really amazing and we just love how much space we have for all our equipment in all these spacious drawers.

Additionally we also build in a pantry with this gorgeous old pharmacy cabinet that Nora found online. To separate the pantry from the kitchen our amazing carpenters build a wooden frame for some vintage wooden windows that we also found online. They make the space much more cozy and add so much character.
The stainless steel shelves are from Frama as well and go perfectly in resonance with the stainless steel kitchen handles. For the worktop we wanted to find something natural and warm as well, so we decided to go for travertine stone from MCR. They always have the best selections of worktops and stone in general and helepd us with so many renovation projects already. No matter what you are looking for, MCR will try to make everything possible. The details of this travertine worktop are so beautiful, that we had to add a close up for you guys in this post as well. The wooden cutting boards are from our all time favorite brand Hampson woods – made with love and by hand – they are not only aesthetically pleasing, they also last for the years to come! If you have any other questions about specific products in the kitchen just ask away in the comments.
To celebrate the opening of the studio we will host a Pop up Cafè for you guys next months – so stay tuned for that! And also there will be a food photography and styling workshop in August, so there are lot’s of exciting news to share with you in the coming weeks!
We missed you guys and are happy to be back – to many new recipes and posts in the coming weeks! We hope to see you at the new studio soon!
