Home Tour with Stine Marie Rosenborg in Copenhagen
We are excited to share another home tour with you guys today! It's the first time that we also filmed the tour, we hope you enjoy it. Together with her boyfriend the architect Stine Marie Rosenborg is living in this beautiful apartment in Copenhagen. We got to know Stine through Instagram and her beautiful account was one of the first ones we followed and is absolutely a favorite of ours! It was so lovely to finally meet Stine in person and to step in her very charming and beautiful apartment. Find out all about Stine in our interview.
Hi Stine, please introduce yourself:
I’m Stine Marie Rosenborg, I live in Copenhagen with my boyfriend Peter. I work as an architect for a architecture studio with a main focus on restoration of old existing buildings and design of educational buildings.
In which room do you spend most of your time?
We definitely spend most of the time in the kitchen. This room is the heart of the apartment with direct connections to all rooms of the apartment. The light here is exceptional in the morning and it is the home of all my avocado plants. Soon we will have a balcony with direct access from the kitchen. We have planned a small remodel of the kitchen, and I cannot wait until I can sip my morning coffee in the sun between lots of green plants – not to mention the fun task of furnishing this new “outside room”.
What’s your favorite oldest interior piece and what’s your favorite latest purchase?
My oldest and dearest interior piece is a pink velvet chair that I inherited from my grandmother. It’s nothing fancy but I love the soft dusty pink color in our greyish home. My latest purchase is a beautiful ceramic bowl that I brought home from visiting a friend in A Coruña, Spain. The color of the glace is spot on. When I bought it I thought ‘this will look perfect full of lemons’ – and it did.
What’s your favorite book or which book do you read at the moment?
Right now I am reading a few books, one of them being ‘The life changing magic of tidying up’ by Marie Kondo – looking forward to see if her magic works. I also have a secret love (not so secret anymore) for cheesy fictional novels, preferably with a historical angle.
Does Art play a role in your life?
Yes art does play a role in my life, but not in the way that I surround myself with expensive art pieces at home. However I love getting inspired by art, especially when a single piece – a painting, photography or sculpture – inspires me to redecorate or add a specific color to our home.
How would your dream living situation look like?
It would be a house in the middle of Copenhagen, close to work, museums and the life of the city but with a wild garden and the sounds of birds (not cars) #wishfullthinking. Realistically though, I would most likely have to leave Copenhagen if I want that some day.
Which interior piece do you want to buy soon?
A new couch! I really wish for a new beautiful and comfy couch. But if I should be realistic, I think the next interior piece will be a new table for our kitchen, and probably some furniture for our balcony.
Would you tell us a few of your favorite design shops?
I mostly ‘shop’ and find treasures on different flea markets. It’s best to go outside of Copenhagen; preferable to Møn. Also, DANSK made for rooms, just around the corner from me is always full of beautiful pieces. For flowers, plants and presents I go to Bak on Gl. Kongevej. I used to work here and I’m still very fond of the atmosphere at this little place @bak_shop.
If someone would gift you a second flat or house where would it be?
Maybe a little house or cottage in Tuscany, or perhaps a little house on the Danish island Møn with view of the beautiful fields and the sea. I have been coming here most of my life and in my opinion it’s one of the most beautiful parts of Denmark.
What’s your next travel destination?
We are travelling to Mallorca this August for relaxation, reading and swimming and then NYC later this fall. I really want to plan a trip to Scotland and to the southern part of US, both destinations have been on the top of my wish list for quite some time – maybe one of these trips will happen in 2019. Who knows?
What’s your all time favorite travel destination?
My favorite travel destination is definitely Japan. I visited Japan for the first time in 2010 and again with Peter in 2017. It is by far one of the most beautiful countries I have visited so far. The nature, culture and esthetics are pleasing to both the eye and the mind. We are already dreaming (and wishfully planning) the next trip.
What’s your favorite music/song at the moment?
I have been listening a lot to Haley Heynderickx the last two weeks after I saw her perform at this year’s Roskilde Festival.
If someone visits Copenhagen for the first time, which places would you recommend to go to?
This will sound as a Visit Copenhagen tour guide, but definitely Glyptoteket. I have been in love with this place since my grandmother took me here during a summer vacation when I was about 7 years old. If I was offered to move into the winter garden, I would not hesitate a second. The historic statues that are on display, in a combination with the color of the rooms, the floors and the light are just – perfect. Another spectacular museum to visit is Thorvaldsen’s Museum, which contain a beautiful combination of statues and vividly colored rooms. The Botanical Garden and The Palm House are also worth a visit. Take your time and spend some time in the garden, drink coffee on the deck of The Palm House and visit the cute little store located near the entrance to the garden. While you are in the neighborhood take a walk in the King’s Garden surrounding “my castle” the beautiful Rosenborg Castle.
Tell us 3 of your favorite Instagram accounts:
It must be @linneasalmen for her inspiring moodboard’ish account. A mix of pictures from her home, work situations and her work as a stylist – plus, she has a great sense of humor (if you understand swedish). I also enjoy @rockpaperdresses, she has a cute and colorful universe. The last one must be @haarkon_ and their journey around the world, visiting beautiful green places.

Hi Maia
The bookshelves are from the shelving system Elfa. We bought it at our local hardware store. We painted the hangers, bracket and shelves in the same color as our walls - www. Elfa.com
I hope this was helpful

Lovely home.
How did you achieve the grey splotchy color in your dining room?
Our food stories - Aug 02, 2018
Thank you! We don't know which brand Stine took for her wall, but we always use chalk paint from kalklitir or plaster from Kabe Cph to get that look.
