Home Tour with danish artist Silke Bonde
We are so happy to show you the beautiful house of the talented danish artist and designer Silke Bonde, who lives in Copenhagen with her husband. We got to know Silke through Instagram some years ago and it was so lovely to finally meet in person last month. Silke creates the most beautiful art prints and we are so lucky to have one on our wall as well. Find out more about a exciting give-away at the end of the post. We hope you enjoy the pictures and find out all about Silke in our interview.
Hi Silke, please introduce yourself:
Hi, my name is Silke Bonde, I am an artist and designer living in a house a little north from Copenhagen with my husband, dog and our upcoming baby. I work from my home studio where I create my artworks inspired by the nature I am surrounded by.
In which room do you spend most of your time?
I spend most of my time in our livingroom. I love all the light and the view to our greenhouse and garden.
What’s your favorite oldest interior piece and what’s your favorite latest purchase?
My favourite oldest interior piece is a little wooden table I took over from my mom when she moved, she used it as her flower table. It’s full of water stains and it’s quite worn but that’s exactly what I love about it. My favourite latest purchase must be our Vilhelm Lauritzen VL45 Radiohuspendel lamp, it’s so classic and gives a great light over the dining table.
How would your dream living situation look like?
I love living in Denmark, but I sometimes wish we had more extreme nature such as mountains. I would love to live in a big wooden house with large windows facing a fantastic mountain view. But in stead of moving from my wonderful house I would actually prefer to be able to travel the world more often and stay at wonderful locations in charming architectural buildings. I have a dream of visiting many of the boutique hotels on www.boutique-homes.com.
What’s your favorite book or which book do you read at the moment?
I must admit I am not a big reader, I hope to be some day soon. But there is one book I keep remembering and which made a big impression on me, it’s “A Thousand Splendid suns” by Khaled Hosseini.
Does Art play a role in your life?
Yes! I love exploring different exhibitions and get into other creative peoples minds. Every time I’m visiting a new city I always search for art and design museums in the area. I love to explore the full experience of the exhibitions, the architecture and the food in the cafe.
If someone would gift you a second flat or house where would it be?
It would be Tokyo. Wow, this city is amazing! Just walking around the narrow streets exploring the charming aesthetic architecture, their love for green plants allover and all the great designs shops. I am a huge fan of their attention to detail and their very polite behavior.
Which interior piece do you want to buy soon?
I am currently looking for a beautiful rattan lounge piece for our greenhouse and to use outside when the sun is shining.
What’s your next travel destination?
I am going to Madrid in some weeks with a group of girls. During the summer I would love to do a roadtrip in Portugal.
What’s your all time favorite travel destination?
It’s very hard to say. I was amazed by Tokyo and would love to explore more of Japan soon. But the food experience I had in Mexico last year was amazing too! Can’t choose..
What’s your favorite music/song at the moment?
It’s “Apocalypse” by Cigarettes After Sex, I get sp calm every time I listen to it.
If someone visits Copenhagen for the first time, which places would you recommend to go to?
Louisiana Museum, Design Museum Denmark, a canal tour (it’s actually quite beautiful especially if the sun is shining), outside The Black Diamond in the summertime watching all the boats and life in the canal, street food on Papirøen and rent a bike and take a ride to Nørrebro and Vesterbro.
