1.Hi Philipp, please introduce yourself:

Hi, I’m Philipp, I’m a hairdresser and have a salon in Berlin, Kreuzberg since 2011. This also includes an event location, @Haus_58, which I run together with a friend.
Shootings, events, product launches, etc. take place here. For about 1.5 years I live, mostly on weekends, in the countryside. Together with my best friend I bought an old barn in which a house was built in World War II.

2. In which room do you spend most of your time?

In my Berlin apartment, I spend time everywhere! Over the year, of course, it changes a bit. Generally though I spend a lot of time on the sofa and watch whatever my
current favourite series is, (happily all episodes in a row hehe) I read on the daybed in the bay window as the view through the trees is lovely in between turning pages, or in
bed where it’s the most comfortable. I cook twice a day so I also spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

3. What’s your favorite oldest interior piece and what’s your favorite latest purchase?

This is a dark dresser with a white marble top that I more or less stole from my parents when I moved out of home….And my favorite latest purchase is my new bed from  @noah_living .

4. What’s your favorite book or which book do you read at the moment?

This one is tricky, but ”In the Caliph’s House – A Year in Casablanca” is definitely a favorite. A guy from England who buys a house in Morocco and renovates it. In the
process, he does everything wrong that can be done wrong in every way. Right now I don’t have that much time to read for pleasure, it’s more technical literature on food forest gardening, soil, etc and online seminars.

5. Does Art play a role in your life?

Earlier I’ve draw a lot of inspiration from exhibitions and museums but unfortunately at the moment I don’t have much time to check out Berlins galleries. But art definitely still plays a big role in my everyday life. I like to paint pictures and love take photos, decorating and staging places. An Instagram feed is also a kind of art. I also see cutting, coloring
and styling hair as a form of art, one might say craftsmanship.

6. How would your dream living situation look like?

To be honest I think I’m already living my dream living situation! I have found out through the farmhouse, (knowing that I live quite differently in the city),
that I´m actually quite satisfied with a simple living situation and entertainment from birdwatching and tending to the garden.

7. Which interior piece do you want to buy soon?

To be honest I don’t really need anything but if I had to choose, I would like a new sofa or a new cover for the old one and a new dining table with a bigger round top would be
great.

8. Would you tell us a few of your favorite design shops?

I actually rarely buy new furniture, although for the farmhouse I will probably need quite a bit in the next few years. If I need something I ask Lucas from @bonbon.haus – a
wonderful interior store. All my wall paints are from there and Lucas is my partner in the event location.
Two other friends of mine Ari and Rainer started a really great vintage store @anotherjune_vintage some time ago. To my shame, I must confess that I’ve never managed to stop by, but the products you can see on their Instagram account I quite often drool over!

9. If someone would gift you a second flat or house where would it be?

It would be a piece of land in the mountains.

10. What’s your next travel destination?

Unfortunately no plans as yet!

11. What’s your all time favorite travel destination?

In the last few years it was definitely Morocco, especially Marrakech. A friend of mine has been offering yoga retreats there for a few years. I’m not such a yoga person myself but I appreciate what she does and through her I found a connection to this beautiful place. She also has a lovely house there where I stay regularly, that feels extremely
comfortable and sometimes I help out with the decorating.

12. What’s your favorite music/song at the moment?

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Rihanna while jogging. I’m also a big fan of the London Grammar album, if you wait.

13. If someone visits Berlin for the first time, which places would you recommend to go to?

I would recommend to take a bike ride through Tiergarten, past the Siegessäule, then across 17th June straight towards the Brandenburg Gate, where you can then cruise
through and over Museum Island to Mitte. Have a few drinks at the Victoria Bar, enjoy the sunset on Tempelhofer Feld and go swimming at the Olympia Bad.
