A magical trip to Bertarello
Earlier this year, in spring, Nora and I made a wonderful trip to a dreamy place called Bertarello, in Italy.
Close to Rome, you’ll find the old watch tower Bertarello – the owner Beatrice Peruzzi created heaven on earth. When you arrive you drive through alleys of olive trees and the impressive old tower just takes your breath away. We came at the end of May and the wisteria and lot’s of roses were just in full bloom, which was pure magic!
The tower itself has been beautifully restored – with so much love and care and appreciation for it’s history. It’s really remarkable what Beatrice created here for her guests.
You instantly feel the luxury of our modern time while still feeling the charm and soul of the old building. And Beatrice is such a wonderful, warm and welcoming host, you basically never want to leave again. Nora and I arrived late in the evening and when we entered the incredible kitchen, where Beatrice had prepared a delicious meal for us, we were just blown away by the special atmosphere. You can really feel all the passion and love that goes into cooking and being such a wonderful host like Beatrice is. I love to arrive to a new place in the evening and then you already discovered it through it’s unfamiliar scent and when you wake up the next morning you have the big luxury of seeing it with your eyes in daylight for the first time. So it almost feels like you have two moments of arrival.
So the next day, Beatrice gave us a tour around the property – there are dogs, a cat, horses and geese, a vegetable and herb garden, many beautiful flowers and plants and lot’s of other things to discover. Also Bertarello has it’s own olive oil, which tastes just SO good – so that alone would be already worth a visit. We can promise you there won’t be a more magical place – so go and book your next adventure to Italy 🙂
