Hi Kate, please introduce yourself:

My name is Kate Imogen Wood, I am originally from the Lake District in England and moved to Copenhagen almost 8 years with my husband Ben. We just had our first baby – Damon Lennon this year. I am a Interior Stylist & Creative Consultant working with Danish / European brands and private clients.

In which room do you spend most of your time?

Definitely the kitchen it’s the heart of our house much like many homes…. I love how it connects seamlessly to the other rooms in the apartment without being strictly open plan. I think a good layout and room flow are so important to the way we live. Creating the right ‘zonal living’ that works for your needs really helps to maximize each square meter of your home.

What’s your favorite oldest interior piece and what’s your favorite latest purchase?

When we moved to CPH back in 2011 we only brought our suitcases so had to leave our Manchester Victorian terrace house and most of the things inside! But we did bring a original British Anglepoise lamp which I bought from a flea market in Brighton, such a classic and looks great wherever we put it! Our vintage Juno cot for Damon, beautiful shape and practical as it extends as the baby grows…Such a Danish classic.

How would your dream living situation look like?

The Yorkshire Moors in a single story Modernist bungalow with a secluded courtyard and floor the ceiling windows.

What’s your favorite book or which book do you read at the moment?
I love to read historical fiction, but haven’t had chance to read much this year with a new baby! But I would definitely recommend ‘The Ballroom’ by Anna Hope, set in Yorkshire during 1911.

Does Art play a role in your life?
I think photography plays more of a role in my life more than art. I love to attend exhibitions by the British photographer Martin Parr, his early work from the North of England where I grew up really captures the mood and atmosphere the surroundings. More recently I have been captivated by George Byrne, hope to own a print of his one day!

If someone would gift you a second flat or house where would it be?
Such a tricky question! Have so many destinations where I would love to have a holiday home…But I am thinking definitely some place with sun! So I would say either a beautifully ornate apartment in Budapest with so much history and a rooftop oasis garden. Or a bohemian rustic Portuguese cottage in the Algarve.

Would you tell us a few of your favorite design shops?
Merci , Paris – Love a design shop that doesn’t just offer beautiful items but also functional objects, they have an amazing hardware department there.
Beau Marche, Copenhagen – Such an eclectic array of design and vintage, always changing with treasures around every corner.
Darkroom, London – Fun, bold and colourful, full of print and pattern in geometric styles.
Restored, Amsterdam – Understated and simplistic array of home and lifestyle items

Which interior piece do you want to buy soon?
Have my eye on a bed by Woodenmind – WDN1.

What’s your next travel destination?
Well we recently got back from the US where we did a coast to coast road trip – so I think we are going to take it easy and opt for a chilled holiday to Greece in the coming months….

What’s your all time favorite travel destination?
Again a super hard question – but think I would have to say California. The food, lifestyle, laid-back vibe and of course the weather. Driving through the desert listing to Local Natives and Bon Iver – can’t beat it!

What’s your favorite music/song at the moment?
Never get board of listing to Richard Ashcroft – favorite song is Check The Meaning. Perfect Sunday morning song!

If someone visits Copenhagen for the first time, which places would you recommend to go to?
The new 1408 Cocktail bar…So cozy!
