Visit Skåne – a wonderful week in Sweden
The last station of our long tour through Denmark and Sweden last month was the beautiful region Skåne, in the south of Sweden.
We already been to a region of Skåne a few years ago, but only for a weekend, so we never really had time to explore much of the area. We’ve been so excited for this trip, as everyone told us that Skåne is so beautiful. We mainly stayed in Österlen which is especially known for it’s magical light. That’s also why a lot of artists used to live and work there. With our dear friend and colleague Ezgi Polat we stayed in the most charming house for a week and totally fell in love with the whole region and all the wonderful things Skåne has to offer. So here you go for our Skåne guide – we already know that we will be back for sure!
Where to stay
You can find many lovely bed & breakfasts in Skåne but we decided to book an airbnb in a little village in Österlen, as we love to travel that way. We booked this goregous house and it was just SO beautiful! Located at the end of a small road, in the middle of the woods, this house felt like straight out of a fairytale. The owners Sandra and Magnus were the best hosts and always had great advices! The garden was a pure dream with a very charming green house (we loved to have our breakfasts in there!) and the interior of the whole house was just perfect. We really enjoyed our evenings on the charming terrace after a long day of exploring and photographing and Nora spoilt us with the best and easy holiday meals here (recipes will follow soon!). If you are looking for a nice get-away we can highly recommend you to book this magical place, we can’t wait to visit it again! A big thank you to Sandra and Magnus, it was a true pleasure to stay at your wonderful house!
Best Food Spots
There are so many lovely little cafés in Skåne, that we even didn’t manged to visited everything we wanted to see. What we loved about most places, was this wonderful vinatge vibe and decor that so many cafés had. Here are some of our favorites for you:
A very cute café in a former schoolhouse in Rörum. The atmosphere is great and the light was so beautiful! They offer also vegan alternatives on the menu but as there was no gluten-free option, I could only enjoy their coffee 🙂 Nora an Ezgi both tried a crêpe of course and loved it! They also have a very charming garden – big recommendation!
In the little village Tranås you can find the Österlen Choklad Fabrik. Nora is a huge lover of chocolate, so of course we had to visit this place! Nora already tried many chocolates in her life and you have to believe us that this is seriously the best chocolate ever and this is no exaggeration 🙂 So if you’re in the area, make sure to stop by! And if you don’t plan to visit Skåne so soon, they also have a webshop, so either way you should definitly try these chocolate treats. We bought some for a little picnic later this day, so you can see more if you scroll a little bit down.
This place was such a gem! A little farm were you can either have food in the most beautiful surroundings, rent a house and stay there, just stop by for a coffee and admire the whole space or have a look at their cute little butik. It’s also very close to the sea, what a perfect location!
Best Nature Spots
Where ever you look you will find beautiful spots. Just driving through Skåne (by bike or car) is a pure joy and we especially enjoyed the evenings and the magical light. We want to present you our two favorite places today, were we had the most wonderful time and one evening we were even were lucky enough to see a gorgeous moon reflection in the sea.
Haväng
A wonderful area close to the sea! Dreamy beech forest, wonderful possibilities to have magical walks and a great coast. We even saw some horses close to the beach – can it get any better? We came here with lot’s of delicious local treats for an evening picnic. We bought the best cheese and a tasty local rhubarb lemonade and some olives at Börje & Olsson Skafferi in Simrishamn (also a very cute town by the sea). We also found a very cute flower shop in Simrishamn, called Korsbacken Blommor & Design. They made the most beautiful flower bouquet for us and also offer some very charming cards and posters from flowers in their shop. Then we had some sweet treats from Österlen Chokolad and e voilà: here you go for the perfect picnic! After the picnic we went down to the beach and I almost have no words for this beauty that we saw! The most dreamy colors and the full moon shining over the water. I still get so much energy by just thinking back to this special moment.
Stenhuvuds Nationalpark
Close to Kivik you find the Stenhuvuds Nationalpark, were you can take many lovely walks through the forest and to the beach. The paths are in a very good condition and you have so many beautiful spots with a view over the sea. We decided to explore the beach which was simply wonderful! You almost have the feeling to be somewhere in the caribbean as the beach is so wide and bright. In the evening the whole sky turned pink and we enjoyed a little snack with local apple juice from Kivik, a little village which is known for their apples. Must be wonderful in autumn!
We hope you guys enjoyed our guide! Apart from the countryside in Skåne, we also visited Malmö and can’t wait to share a Malmö guide with you soon as well. Stay tuned!

An intimate place, beautiful surroundings, great food and good company. The perfect rest and wonderful time spent. I am a little jealous of Your walks along the seashore in the light of the setting sun.
Have a nice day.
