You guys already know how much we love the danish design brand Fredericia, as we have their “The People´s Chair” at home and in the studio as well. So of course we were very excited to team up with them again to introduce you to the Trinidad Chair by Nanna Ditzel. This classic icon of Fredericia Furniture is so photogenic and we absolutely fell in love with the curved shape and the cutout fretwork, that evokes the most stunning light and shadow play on the wall. Nanna Ditzel had the idea for the shape when she was travelling to Trinidad, where she saw the fretwork from the so called gingerbread facades. Ditzel was questioning herselfe:  “On Trinidad I saw how the facades of the houses nearly dissolves in light and shadow – almost like a lace – and I thought to myself: How can I use this for a chair?”
She definitely succeeded and this shape is so unique! What we really like about the chair is that it is not only a beautiful object, in fact it is also a very comfortable and practical chair, that you even can stack. Apparently Nanna Ditzel  had a “magnificent ability to transform her artistic dreams into very functional and purposeful designs”, a transformation that’s not easy to reach for everyone. To highlight the chair we worked together with our talented friends from Mary Lennox, for this little installation with dried hop. We hope you enjoy!

On Trinidad I saw how the facades of the houses nearly dissolves in light and shadow – almost like a lace – and I thought to myself: How can I use this for a chair?”
